From #1 New York Times bestseller Elsie Silver comes the final book in the delicious, spicy, small-town Rose Hill series.
Sebastian Rousseau is a grumpy, hot-as-hell fire pilot who is too damn good with his hands.
It's the perfect combination. But unfortunately for her, he's also her ex-boyfriend's dad.
A chance meeting brought them together, and a missed connection has kept them apart.
One year later, a stroke of fate has them living under the same roof--which makes everything between them downright messy. Because even after all this time, he's still the man Gwen thinks about when she falls asleep. The one she can't get over no matter how hard she tries.
Bash is working on mending a fragile relationship with his son, and they both know acting on these urges would be the ultimate betrayal.
But Gwen sees the heat in his eyes. That look of need that never fails to send a shiver down her spine.
The mutual longing is borderline unbearable, and the simmering heat between them is downright palpable.
They both know there are rules when it comes to situations like this.
But then again...following the rules has never felt so futile.
Sizzling tropes:
- Ex-boyfriend's dad
- Age gap
- Small town/Western
- Grumpy hero
- Forbidden romance
- Forced proximity

THIS BOOKS WAS SO GOOD, i had such a fun time reading and legit read it all in one day. i’ve been WAITING for this book and it was perfect in so many ways
I am so happy to return to Rose Hill. This series has been the best ride and so much fun. I loved that while there was anticipation for Bash and Gwen, not much was known about them. I enjoy this with someone like Elsie at the writing desk because it feels like she has even further to go with the leads, more personality to explore, and more character development to create. She exceeded all expectations with these two.
Bash and Gwen’s connection was instant and intense. After the meet cute, we got to experience the yearning, vulnerability, and honesty. These two have all the reasons not to be together, forbidden, age gap, grumpy/sunshine, and emotional scars, yet through Elsie’s beautiful storytelling, those were all reasons they made these two work so well together. With that, their love felt more believable and so much stronger. Bash and Gwen are everything you want in a romance.
I am so excited that this book is live and in the wild. I loved this story so much! I can’t believe it’s the final chapter in The Rose Hill series, but what a way to finish!
Loved it! I. Was so looking forward to Bash’s story and could not have picked a better love interest than Gwen. She was the best sunshine to his grumpy, growly self. These two just have the most amazing chemistry and Bash holding back from what he wants creates the best slow burn romance!
I knew that Elsie would be able to handle the delicate nuances of the “dating my ex-boyfriend’s father” trope and she did not disappoint. This was never a love triangle and honestly, you don’t like the son very much, but you do understand how much Bash wants to maintain the tenuous relationship he just started to have with his son and it makes you love him even more.
And I couldn’t help but love Crazy Clyde and that we were going through a very special journey at the same time. Coincidence? I think not. lol But it definitely cements what a wonderful and selfless human that Bash is for his contribution. And. I’m saying it now, Clyde needs his own book.
The spice level in the book is just right and Elsie is so creative - the cockpit of an airplane has never been so perfectly named.
Loved this whole series and can’t wait to see what’s next!!
When I heard that Elsie Silver was tackling the deliciously forbidden and inherently messy trope that is “ex-boyfriend’s dad,” I was immediately excited. Not because it’s a trope that I read often (I don’t!), but because I knew she would handle its complexities well - and that was definitely the case with this tension-filled book. Our couple’s relationship didn’t feel taboo or wrong, simply a different kind of forbidden and absolutely meant to be. I loved their meet cute and the immediate connection between them, the way they fit together. And I ADORED the fact that our hero knew from the very beginning that what he wanted was HER. It was incredibly refreshing to read about a man who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to admit it to himself, even if he isn’t sure that it can ever happen. Seeing the contrasts between him and his son also showcased how grown and mature he is, which was somehow even hotter. And I loved that our heroine was strong, stubborn, and willing to push him when needed. It was a breath of fresh air and a fun, small town-swoony take on a trope that isn’t usually known for that vibe. What a way to end the series… and get me excited for the next one!
The story follows Bash (39), a man who just found out he fathered a child when he was 15. He had no idea about Tripp, who is now a privileged 24-year-old who still has some growing to do. When Bash meets a gorgeous stranger at the airport, he is immediately struck by her. Bash and Gwen (27) have an instant connection, which they both intend to continue… until circumstances keep them apart. So it’s a shock to the system when Bash is introduced to Tripp’s girlfriend months later… and she’s none other than the woman he can’t stop thinking about.
Now, I’ll be honest, this trope is always a little messy, and this is no exception. Yes, Gwen has been banging Bash’s son, but it was handled really well and there is zero cheating, so don’t worry about that. It’s not that Tripp is a bad guy (I would love to read his book in the future!), but he is a bit of a man-child with some growing up to do. Bash and Gwen were clearly the better fit, and I was rooting for them from the start. We get the forbidden tension that comes from knowing they really shouldn’t cross those lines, all while knowing they would be so, so good together if they did. It’s a tense slow burn that pays off with some smokin’ hot spice in the back half. I loved the transformation of the characters and the way they fit together. I also loved that the story fit into the universe Silver has built, with appearances by past favorites and the introduction of some characters I am very intrigued by. I’ve been in a reading slump all summer, yet this held my attention with ease - another fantastic read by Silver!
Y’all, @authorelsiesilver has freaking done it again! I’m not going to lie, I was very hesitant going into this one bc while I can usually overlook the age gap references by mentally aging up a character (sorry, I work with college students, it just gives me the ick) I was worried the whole ex’s dad trope would make that impossible but I should’ve known Elsie would find a way to make me love a book with tropes I generally hate lol. Wild Card is SO GOOD and not your typical ex’s dad trope at all! I won’t spoil anything but if you’re worried about that trope, just know that it’s not your average take on it.
Bash and Gwen are so great together. They’ve both been through some STUFF and have coped in similar yet very different ways. Gwen is all sunshine and positivity to Bash’s burnt out grumpiness. On top of their personal stuff they have that whole “you dated my son” thing to work through so this is a slowww burn. But, you get some really sweet and fun 90’s romcom movie-esque magic in a flashback from a year before to start you off.
And then there’s Clyde! I love that zany old man. He and his antics are a delight.
This book is full of heart, angst, fighting your past, and finding hope and love in the present/future. I loved everything about it.
