It turns out that people's lives in this universe are entangled with those same people in an alternate universe. The trees, or EnTa, as they call themselves, want the alternate universe to avoid a climate catastrophe. For that to happen, the EnTa and the humans in this universe have to help. This novel is a prequel and David recommends reading it before the first novel, EnTa - Human.
