By the #1 bestselling history author in the world, Bill O'Reilly: A dramatic confrontation with good, evil, and the worst people who ever lived
The concept of evil is universal, ancient, and ever present today. The biblical book of Genesis clearly defines it when Cain kills his brother Abel out of jealousy. Evil is a choice to make another suffer. As long as human beings have walked, evil has been close by.
Confronting Evil by Bill O'Reilly and Josh Hammer recounts the deeds of the worst people in history: Genghis Khan. The Roman Emperor Caligula. Henry VIII. The collective evil of the 19th century slave traders and the 20th century robber barons. Stalin. Hitler. Mao. The Ayatollah Khomeini. Putin. The Mexican drug cartels. Collectively, these warlords, tyrants, businessmen, and criminals are directly responsible for the death and misery of hundreds of millions of people.
By telling what they did and why they did it, Confronting Evil explains the struggle between good and evil--a choice every person in the Judeo-Christian tradition is compelled to make. But many defer. We avoid the life decision. We look away. It's easier.
Prepare yourself to read the consequences of that inaction. As John Stuart Mill said in his inaugural address to the University of St. Andrews in 1867: "Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing."

I have read all of Mr. O’reilly’s Killing and Confronting series. This book was well written and well researched. It was nice to have a different person in each chapter. It doesn’t make the chapters feel so long as some history books can be. I learned a lot as usual. Some of the people I’d never heard of before. Sadly sometimes it seems the evil didn’t end until the person died.
I love all Bill's books but this one I think is the best so far, the facts about people that we have only read about in History books are fascinating. This book goes into great detail about these evil people, and what we learn in many cases is terrifying. I hope Bill keeps writing because his books are the best, only problem is I read mainly at night, and it's very hard to put Bill's books down, so I am losing sleep, but well worth it!.
Several examples of the use of evil by VERY evil people. Well written and worth the read. Very informative with little history lessons throughout. A great read!
Very Interesting deep dive into historical dictators/tyrants including current and active ones. It is easy to read and facts are researchable. My favorite of the series is Killing Jesus which was an eyeopener.
Bill O’Reilly does it again with his clear and concise knowledge of History! Started Reading this and find it so disturbing that people like this have held and continue to hold power over humanity.
Even more disturbing is the timing of this book release - the world is definitely a place where a lot of good can be found, but the existence of evil is just as prevalent in this world, and his selection of individuals that personify evil couldn’t have been more precise!
Thanks again to Mr. O’Reilly for another well researched and well written book, will continue to read this book to the end.
A book written for our time for sure!
