In the spring of 1968, Aubrey Lange began his first of what would be two perilous tours in Vietnam as a medevac helicopter pilot, often called Dustoff, their call sign. He shuttled countless wounded soldiers from battlefield to field hospital, his Huey often taking fire.
His military career over and back home in Texas, Lange found a need for a new era of cowboy—one in the sky. For five decades Lange gathered livestock by helicopter across Texas and the Southwest, mixing some aerial predator control and wildlife capture along the way.
